Passing it on
Zola taught someone else the flower-and-candle breath
A friend got upset about something at school. Zola didn't tell her to calm down, because nobody in the history of the world has ever calmed down on request.
Instead she said: “Do the flower and the candle with me.” Smell the flower — breathe in. Blow out the candle — breathe out. Three times.
The friend has since taught it to her little brother, who has taught it to a cousin. The thing about a tool that actually works is that it travels.
Try it this week: Ask your child to teach you their calming trick. Being the expert helps it stick.
